A year where ...You've got that right, algo_fan. A year where you bring everyone up to the required standard and where people can really afford to develop some breadth in their education. In Australia, many universities require two units out of eight to be taken from a different faculty in the first of 3 years. After that, unless you're taking a double major or a double degree, you follow a very narrow path in your specialisation.ramblingteacherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13286015628832482460noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28079520.post-31067468409138434182022-02-07T17:11:44.916+11:002022-02-07T17:11:44.916+11:00When you say introduce a freshman year, do you mea...When you say introduce a freshman year, do you mean like how US standard bachelors length is 4 and in Aus it's 3?algo_fannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28079520.post-38274889078398549782022-02-01T21:33:40.197+11:002022-02-01T21:33:40.197+11:00Thanks for this article. Thanks for this article.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28079520.post-68778176512858039742021-07-20T21:30:27.041+10:002021-07-20T21:30:27.041+10:00niceniceAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28079520.post-48424734617504870372021-07-20T20:56:15.870+10:002021-07-20T20:56:15.870+10:00niceniceAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28079520.post-51357924215200255452021-03-27T22:05:05.873+11:002021-03-27T22:05:05.873+11:00Out of four beliefs you shared here, I am sure man...Out of four beliefs you shared here, I am sure many used to hold at least one or two of them. Like I too amazed many times that how kids know some specific mobile or technical feature of any gadget that even we do not have any idea about. So here I too agree that it's not true that students cannot learn what we do not teach them. I would like to add here that sometimes teachers also feel the same when they see any student with average performance, excel in higher studies. So experiences and roles of different people also matter in kids' life. Teachers and parents need to motivate and support kids in their journey of learning. Thanks for sharing a thought-provoking post here.Rum Tanhttps://smiletutor.sg/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28079520.post-82348752619238946342021-02-22T22:52:46.062+11:002021-02-22T22:52:46.062+11:00niceniceAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28079520.post-22270457241722365542021-02-02T19:24:36.068+11:002021-02-02T19:24:36.068+11:00niceniceAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28079520.post-87397906594567918452020-09-23T00:29:44.424+10:002020-09-23T00:29:44.424+10:00niceniceAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28079520.post-69009174402993853332020-09-14T07:20:14.653+10:002020-09-14T07:20:14.653+10:00Done. We had a couple of practice exams and we went through questions that the students found difficult. Some students needed encouragement to see me for a lunchtime tutorial so I could go over some personalised work with them.
It is hard to prepare for an exam when there isn't a history of exam questions, as there would be for Maths Methods for example. I highly recommend going over all your assessments from throughout the year, especially the "written explanations". I also recommend trying to see your teacher for a tutorial either by yourself or with one other student who may be struggling with the same content. "Tuition" at this stage will work better than whole-class instruction.ramblingteacherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13286015628832482460noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28079520.post-63304152223412671832017-10-30T15:49:14.163+11:002017-10-30T15:49:14.163+11:00Hi I'm a student who is doing algorithmics thi...Hi I'm a student who is doing algorithmics this year.

Needless to say I am pulling my hair out, it wasn't taught that well at our school.

How did you get your girls to prepare for the exam?

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28079520.post-4854606167488770522017-07-28T19:27:27.108+10:002017-07-28T19:27:27.108+10:00My daughter had a hard time learning the times tab...My daughter had a hard time learning the times table.
So I wrote an android application to assist her :)

Each exercise kids solve helps them to feed the cute panda.
You can get daily reminders to feed the panda (solve exercises) and kids get rewarded with trophies upon goals completion.

* Currently the application is only for Android phones *
https://goo.gl/9QutZxעמיחיhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14668281439995364650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28079520.post-48945021459823862662017-01-10T05:35:58.111+11:002017-01-10T05:35:58.111+11:00thanks for the article. It touched some important and crucial aspects in children that formal education nowadays neglects/overlooks.
In my opinion, the other great persons who made Totto-chan's wonderful childhood possible were her parents, especially her mother. She always protected Totto-chan from bad influences, although some people there thought it was the norm. She also tried to provide what was best for her daughter, not what was best for herself.MahaCopiahttps://mahacopia.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28079520.post-63711971473995358322015-11-02T16:17:26.351+11:002015-11-02T16:17:26.351+11:00How exciting to be the only Girl's school part...How exciting to be the only Girl's school participating. For early 30 years I have bucked against the archaic notion that times tables should be memorized through the twelves. I believe memorization through the 12s actually hampers a more complete understanding of multiplication, because, a) it creates a false idea that somehow mutiplication beyond the 12s is somehow more difficult than the twelves, and b) it fails to imbue children with an understanding of the Distributive Property.

Nothing beyond the 9s are necessary to use the standard multiplication algorithms, and the tens are necessary for understanding the significance of place value. Anything beyond that is, at best, a waste of time.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
